Copper Tray

 

Copper tray made from the copper material removed from the USS Constitution during the rebuild of 1927. inscribed with "This materail was taken from the US Frigate Constitution. Keel laid 1794, rebuilding 1927"  The center medallion is an engraving of "Old Ironsides" with the inscriptions: "Old Ironsides -- Launched 1797, 1904 Tripoli 1812 Guerriere Java 1815 Cyane Levant -- Frigate Constitution"
                                                    Size: 4.5 " diameter, .375" high.

  This is my blog on "Old Ironsides"  -- The US Frigate Constitution. I have been collecting memorabilia related to "Old Ironsides" for about thirty years, and I have finally decided to move my catalog of the collection to a blog so that anyone interested in this material can see it.  It all started one day about 30 years ago when I purchased a model of the USF Constitution.  I couldn't just let it sit there gathering dust, so I built a mahogany and glass case for it. The base of the case has a drawer, and I acquired some USS Constitution brass drawer pulls, which I installed on the drawer.  Soon afterward, I discovered some other interesting artifacts and memorabilia and bought them, adding them to my collection.  Over the years, I have collected many items.  I hope that you enjoy looking at them.
